Wood Stove Chimney
On Monday and Tuesday, the chimney for the wood stove was constructed. It's made from a cinder block material but the chimney block was made in one piece to surround the flue pipe. Work went very quickly on a very hot and humid day. The pictures show the work progressing from the foundation through the deck and roof. In the first picture, you can see the hole that was cut for the stove in the foundation wall. The second picture is of a gas powered saw being used to cut the hole in the flue tile to match the ash clean out. A similar hole in the tile was made to match up with the foundation opening.
The exterior of the chimney was parged with a mortar mix and will eventually be covered with a stone veneer by a different company, an ash clean out cover will also be added.
Heavy equipment to lift the blocks sure help get the job done quickly.
